Tough day at the office (need more Leunig)

Scrappy day, at the coal face. Big ups to Marion for your unflagging support and cheerful words of encouragement..
The first Leunig is for you.

Team Blogger fought Federation Insiders in a tussel that left everyone drained.

And was it all worth it?

Oh yes!

Federation insiders.... Tell me more?

No great shakes, Anonymous. We have two card-holding Federated Farmers members on the Council. I questioned their impartiality. My own was questionsd also, in light of being a blogger of the sort you are presently experiencing.

And can I ask? What was their problem with blogging?

Anyone on a council seat who claims to be impartial is most certainly a liar.
This may sound a little harsh but the truth usually is.

Really though, the point of a council is to reflect and serve the needs of those being serviced, in a farming community one would expect a high representation of farmers around the table, as one would also expect the opposite, the hard but I guess is for all to grow up and respect differing points of view whilst fairly pushing their own.

Whether one agrees with RG or not, and I often don't, to be fair to him, he hangs all his washing out for view and there is nothing hidden, right or wrong. His name is at the top for all to see.

RG and I have argued on here, circling as he calls it, and to be fair to him I have let him know who I am, unlike you Mr Anon.
I think your a coward.

And that is that

Towack,
I have my reasons for being Anonymous. Some of them coward like. I dont have a problem with that. But my main reason is labelling. I dont want to be labelled as so many bloggers like to do. You often see it where a blogger will struggle with debate and the label to other debater in or to belittle the argument or infer some impartiality. As "anonymous" my words are valued for their content. Which is how I prefer it. Cowardess? Absolutely. Achieving greater consideration. Potentially.
This forum allows Anons to post. If you dont think it is right that I publish in such a way perhaps webby might change it for you?

Sorry my typing was bad.
then label to other debater in order to

Thanks Known-to-me Towack. I appreciate your honesty (though not always your pov :-)
As you point out, and it's obviously the case, we all have our positions from which we view the world. Councillors are not able to erase their world-views in order that they can look dispassionately at every issue. Nor are they expected to. Those that claim the can, are perhaps not as self-aware as you might hope they would be. The trick is, not to allow one's 'tendency' to overwhelm the requirement for fair and balanced decision-making. It's patently obvious when someone has a calcified view on a particular issue. Mine's on fairness. It's essential, not negotiable to me, that 'things be fair'. On other issues, such as those things we wrestle with at the Council, I'm not set. A good argument on any issue, from any person, is welcomed. ('Cept AGW - I'm not interested in hearing those worn-out ideas :-) For those who don't 'get' smiley-faces, that's a sign that I'm teasing, and that you shouldn't take what I say literally. Adults can be satirical, lampoon others and generally provoke gently, without compromising their integrity. Some hard-bitten types don't get it, but there you go - can't do much about them :-)
Seems, Towack, that Anonymous may be in that camp. Some would say that your assessment of Anonymous is harsh, but fair :-)

Towack!! Nicely put!

Hard bitten type. :-)
Towack, there is a point in time when the washing is raised so high and waved around so hard that it becomes propaganda. Next week we could all be wearing woollen jumpers with Bain styles.

The difference between what Robert is doing here and other councillors do at the pub, sports club, or church, is that everybody can have their say here without fear of being beaten up or otherwise intimidated.

Staying anon to resist the labelling is a hoot man, your comments label you anyway and we have all formed an opinion of you via your comments anyway.
But in fairness to you, if you follow my tag or read my bio I dont give much away either - but RG knows who I am and he is slowly circling...

The problem with you being anon, is that some other plonkers comments could be taken as yours.

And as for Mr Bain, I can't hide, I was a teenager in the eighties too so I also have the memories of mums forced upon me woolly jumpers, maybe I still have one. Do you want it for your clothes line RG.

And thanks Suz, your anonymity, apart from your title, is refreshing, secretive in fact ;), I look forward to seeing your woolly jumper on RG's clothesline......

No one hangs woolly jumpers on a clothes-line, Towack - they have to be displayed flat, out of the direct sun - remind me not to employ you to wash and dry mine!
You'll know the quintessential child's-question:
"Why do I have to put on a jersey when Mum feels cold?"

Anonymous said...

Towack, exactly my point. I prefer to be judged for my comments. It is how I prefer to judge bloggers.
Look out, sounds like you are all trying to sell jerseys to Robert. His clothes line is full already, sounds like he is spreading them everywhere.

Towack, I can't knit and wool makes me scratch..open book me.

It is sad that those who disagree with you at council have to be so hateful that you need a bunker to hide in afterwards.

And isn't having federated farmers members decide on rules about farmers a bit like the mongrel mob getting to set the police department budget?

robertguyton said...

The very idea, darkhorse, created a storm.

Dark horse. Isn't ES making rules a bit like the police making their own rules?
